Hey friends, Austin here.
This week had a clear theme:
The tools you rely on…
are getting more powerful, and more risky.
At the same time, AI is quietly stepping in to do more of the work.
Less clicking.
Less manual effort.
More automation.
But with that shift comes a new question:
👉 What should you trust?
Let’s break it down 👇

Breaking News: Thousands of Websites Just Got Hit… From a Single Plugin Update 😬💻

This one’s a bit wild.
Dozens of WordPress plugins — used on thousands of sites — were found to have hidden backdoors.
Not from a typical hack…
But from inside the tools themselves.
A company behind these plugins was acquired —
and malicious code was quietly added into updates.
No warning.
No obvious signs.
Then it activated.
Just like that, thousands of websites were exposed.
This is what’s called a supply chain attack.
The tools you trust…
become the risk.

If you haven’t yet, go download it.
Create ideas, scripts, and videos… anywhere.
And if you like it, a quick review would mean a lot 🙏

This Week in AI - Spotify Expands, AI Engineers Show Up & Snap Cuts Deep
1. Spotify Is Now Selling Physical Books
This is unexpected.
Spotify just added the ability to purchase physical books directly inside the app (US & UK).
Not just audiobooks.
Actual books.
Why?
Because Spotify isn’t just competing in audio anymore…
It’s expanding into full content commerce.
👉 From streaming… to owning the entire content experience.
2. Ovren — Your AI Engineering Team That Actually Ships Code 👨💻⚡
Every team has a backlog that never gets touched.
Ovren fixes that.
It gives you AI frontend + backend engineers that work directly inside your codebase — completing tasks and shipping reviewable updates.
• Executes real dev work
• Works inside your existing system
• Nothing goes live without your approval
👉 This isn’t “AI suggestions”… it’s AI actually doing the work.
3. Snap Cuts 1,000 Jobs — 16% of Its Workforce 📉
Snap just cut 1,000 employees — about 16% of its workforce.
Another big signal.
Tech companies are tightening up…
while doubling down on efficiency and automation.
👉 The shift is clear: leaner teams, more output, more AI.
Top AI Tools of the Week - Tools I’d Start With Right Now
1. Ranked AI — Where SEO Finally Became Predictable 📈
SEO used to feel like a black hole.
You publish… hope it ranks… and move on.
Ranked AI fixed that for me.
It handles the backend SEO work so your content actually gets seen — without you constantly tweaking keywords.
Now it feels like a system — not a gamble.
2. FastRead — How I Keep Up Without Falling Behind 📄⚡
There’s too much to read.
Most of it? You don’t need all of it.
FastRead gives you the signal without the noise.
Drop in anything — articles, PDFs, reports — and get the key ideas in seconds.
This is how I keep up without drowning in tabs.
3. FastPhoto — When You Need a Visual, Fast 🎨🔥
You know the moment.
You need a visual… and everything slows down.
Stock feels generic.
Design takes too long.
FastPhoto fixes that instantly.
I generate clean, on-brand visuals in minutes that actually look custom.
Once you use it, visuals stop being a bottleneck.
Your ads ran overnight. Nobody was watching. Except Viktor.
One brand built 30+ landing pages through Viktor without a single developer.
Each page mapped to a specific ad group. All deployed within hours. Viktor wrote the code and shipped every one from a Slack message.
That same team has Viktor monitoring ad accounts across the portfolio and posting performance briefs before the day starts. One colleague. Always on. Across every account.
AI Mavericks — Where You Stay Ahead
Most people are learning AI.
Very few are actually using it.
That’s the gap.
Inside AI Mavericks, we focus on what actually works:
• Real workflows
• One use case at a time
• Less noise, more execution
Bonus — If You’re Reading This… You’re Early
Most people catch these shifts late.
You don’t have to.
If you want deeper breakdowns and what’s actually working:
That’s where I go deeper on strategy, not just headlines.
Here’s the pattern this week:
Tools are getting smarter.
Workflows are getting faster.
Teams are getting leaner.
But risk is moving closer too.
The same tools that give you leverage
can also become your blind spot.
So the move isn’t to slow down.
It’s to build smarter.
Choose your tools carefully.
And make sure they’re working for you… not against you.
Stay awesome,
Austin Armstrong, CEO
Syllaby, Inc.
